Basically, KAddressBook offers three options for searching address data:
In the main window to select the search criterion: , , or . As soon as you enter a character string in the adjacent input field, the program starts searching your data by the selected criterion. The search result is displayed both in the overview and in the detailed view.
Activate this toolbar with
+ . Depending on the activated search criterion in the , clicking the respective letter or number lists the contact entries whose names, family names, or e-mail addresses begin with this letter or number.Unless you have already done so, first make sure that resources are included in the search by clicking
. This opens a dialog in which to select an address resource, such as LDAP or IMAP. Select the desired resource then enter the corresponding parameters. After confirming with , the program connects to the resource and starts retrieving the address data from it.To start the actual search, enter your search term in the main window's input field. The result of your search appears in the currently active view (by default, as a table). Limit the search range by defining a category for the search term, such as given name, family name, or phone number.
